Welcome to Balanced Path Counselling and Psychotherapy. By engaging our services or using this website, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before booking or attending a counselling session.
1. Purpose of Service
Balanced Path Counselling and Psychotherapy provides professional counselling and psychotherapy services aimed at supporting personal growth, emotional well-being, and mental health. Our counsellors are registered members of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and abide by the ACA Code of Ethics and Practice.
2. Informed Consent
Before commencing counselling, clients are required to complete and sign an Informed Consent Form. This ensures that you understand the nature and purpose of counselling, your rights and responsibilities, the limits of confidentiality, and fees, session length, and cancellation policies. By attending a session, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the information provided in the informed consent form.
3. Confidentiality
All information shared in counselling sessions is confidential and protected under Australian law and professional ethics. Information will only be disclosed without consent when:
there is a risk of harm to yourself or others
there is a legal requirement to disclose (e.g., court order, child protection)
it is necessary for professional supervision (your identity remains protected). Balanced Path Counselling and Psychotherapy complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
4. Session Details
Session Length: 50 minutes (unless otherwise agreed).
Fees: $130 per session.
Payment: Due at the time of booking or session, via Bank transfer or Cash.
Cancellations: At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a cancellation fee.
5. Telehealth Sessions
While all reasonable measures are taken to ensure privacy and security, clients acknowledge that internet-based communication may involve risks outside of our control (e.g., technical interruptions).
6. Professional Conduct
Our counsellors maintain professional boundaries at all times, operate within their scope of competence, engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development, and are committed to upholding the ACA Code of Ethics. Clients are expected to treat counsellors with respect and to avoid behaviour that may cause harm or discomfort.
7. Record Keeping
Client records are stored securely in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Records are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years after the last session (or longer if the client was under 18 at the time of counselling). You may request access to your records in writing, subject to privacy and legal considerations.
8. Limitations of Service
Counselling and psychotherapy are not substitutes for medical treatment or diagnosis. If your counsellor believes your needs fall outside their professional scope, they may recommend referral to another qualified professional or service.
